Kommentar: Debra Wilson eine vielseitige Performance-Künstlerin, MAD TV-Star, Comedy-Kanone, Schauspielerin und auch Sängerin. Ihre grenzenlose Gute-Laune haut einen regelrecht vor Begeisterung um. Sie ist ein weiblicher US-Comedy-Star die auf dem Teppich geblieben ist, freundlich, witzig und immer mit einem offenen Ohr. WE LOVE… DEBRA WILSON!

 

INTERVIEW!

OBZ: Erst einmal ein großes Lob für all das was Sie bisher in Ihrer Karriere geschafft haben. Ihre Filmografie ist wirklich sehr beeindruckend (MAD TV, Family Guy, Avatar, Scary Movie 4 and more). Wie sind sie an die Rolle in „The 10 Years Plan“ gekommen?

WILSON: I was offered the role in "The 10Year Plan". A neighbor was working on the film's score and mentioned me to the Director, Jc Calciano.

 

OBZ: In Deutschland ist der Film noch nicht erschienen und auch noch nicht gezeigt worden. Können sie uns was zum Film und zu ihrer Figur erzählen?

WILSON: "The 10 Year Plan" is about two male friends who decide to be together in 10 years if neither one is in a happy healthy relationship. Their friendship takes a lot of twists and turns, until they have to face, whether or not, to stick to the plan. I play a Minister, in a dream sequence. It's a cameo role, meaning one scene. And it was fun!

 

OBZ: Wie ist der Film bisher beim Publikum angekommen? Wie war die Resonanz?

WILSON: I´ve seen two screenings and the response has been FABULOUS!! Lots of laughs!!

 

OBZ: Wollten sie ursprünglich eine andere Rolle im Film spielen und wie haben sie sich auf die Rolle vorbereitet?

WILSON: It's a gay male comedy, so there were not so many roles for women and the actresses that are in the film, had already been cast, and cast perfectly!!! My preparation was to show up and have a good time and bring LOVE to the set and to the performance.

 

OBZ: Hat das für sie viel Überwindung gekostet, diese Rolle zu spielen? Wie war für sie die Erfahrung?

WILSON: Again, it was a one day shoot. It was really about having fun and bringing lots of LOVE to the performance; no effort at all!

 

OBZ: Wie war die Zusammenarbeit mit dem Regisseur? Wie war die Zusammenarbeit mit den anderen Darstellern?

WILSON: I really didn't collaborate, as much as I simply brought TRUTH, honesty and LOVE to the role, and to the location. The other actors were wonderful! Warm, friendly, and amazing to watch and work with, in a short period of time.

 

OBZ: Was war für sie der schönste Moment beim Dreh?

WILSON: The most beautiful thing about shooting was everything!!!

 

OBZ: Haben Sie vor Drehbeginn auch die vorherigen Filme des Regisseurs “Is It Just Me?” und eCupid“ gesehen? Waren Ihnen die Filme für „The 10 Year Plan“ eine Hilfe bei der Vorbereitung?

WILSON: Prior to this film and this role, I did not know Jc Calciano's other films. He is the 3rd gay male Director I have worked with and I seem to have the best time on each project. I consider myself deeply and richly blessed.

 

OBZ: Würden Sie Ihr Filmprojekt auch in Deutschland persönlich vorstellen wollen? Waren sie schon mal in Deutschland?

WILSON: It's not my film to present. It's the heart and SOUL of Jc Calciano, putting it all together by asking favors, getting some money together and finding amazing talent! My first trip to Germany was recently, at the end of June. And it was breath taking and amazing, historical and classic, modern and old world... AND the FIFA World Cup was taking place and Germany WON, TWICE, while I was there!!

 

OBZ: Würden sie auch in einer deutschen Filmproduktion mitspielen?

WILSON: YES!! I would act in a German movie... As long as it's an English speaking role...

 

OBZ: Die Fragen ob Sie schon mal in Deutschland waren oder ob Sie gerne mal an deutschen Projekten mitmachen würden erübrigen sich, da Sie ja gerade in Berlin waren. Zusammengefasst: Waren Sie beruflich dort? Was haben Sie dort gemacht? Stimmen die Gerüchte das Sie in Berlin Musik machen? Sprechen Sie deutsch? Wie unterscheidet sich hier die Arbeit zu Amerika?

WILSON: I did a performance piece in Friedburg, South of Munich, for the town's 750th Anniversary. It was called "AN EVENING WITH CHARLES BUKOWSKI". I recited the works of German born, American writer/poet, Charles Bukowski, backed by a German rock band, with cello and violin, video visual art, and a tattoo artist, tattooing on stage. "MEGA GILE"!!!! In Berlin, I was visiting a friend and absorbing the energy, vibration, art and history of both West Berlin and East Berlin for the very first time. I know a few phrases and words in German and I made sure to use them constantly!!! For me, there was no difference in working in America or Germany. Performing and creating art is UNIVERSAL. The ONLY difference?... I got to rehearse in a 15th Century Bavarian Castle.

 

OBZ: Bei meiner Recherche ist mir aufgefallen, dass Sie früher sehr oft Whitney Houston parodiert haben. Ich als der vielleicht größte Whitney-Fan war Anfangs nicht besonders begeisterst davon, doch muss ich zugeben das ich doch sehr darüber lachen konnte. Sie haben die Bewegungen gut widergespiegelt. Leider weilt Sie nicht mehr unter uns. Haben Sie nach dem Tod, Whitney Houston noch mal parodiert? Oder ziehen Sie da die Grenze? Haben Sie mal die Originale treffen dürfen, ob nun Whitney oder Oprah (die Sie auch herrlich genial parodiert haben)? Wie waren die Erfahrungen?

WILSON: I have stopped doing parodies of Whitney Houston. It served its humor while she was here. I respected her in life with the humor, and I respect her in death by discontinuing it for all intensive, professional purposes. I also had a great time parodying Oprah. I once met her on a red carpet! I felt terrible! However, after meeting her, I went back to unleashing the funny, back on the set! I never met Whitney, although I did meet Bobby Brown, who was amused by the homage and thought most of it was rather funny.

 

OBZ: Sie wirken immer so energiegeladen. Wie schaffen Sie das? Können Sie Tipps geben, wie man es schafft komisch zu sein? Können Sie auch über sich selber lachen?

WILSON: Energy is not what you DO, it is what you ARE. Some people are energetic. Some people are not. There are no real tips to be "funny". Funny is different for many people, ages, races and cultures. However, a smile is the same in any language. I laugh about myself ALL THE TIME! That's part of being perfectly imperfect!

 

OBZ: Mit wem würden sie gerne mal zusammen arbeiten?

WILSON: There are many people I would like to work with, many of which are European. Brendan Gleeson, Gary Lewis, Brian Cox, Tommy Flanagan, Ian Glenn, Rory McCann and Liam Cunningham, to name a few.

 

OBZ: Sie spielen oft komödiantisch Rollen. Finden Sie sich selber witzig?

WILSON: If you act you don't "find" yourself to be funny. You simply bring the role to life, flesh out the character, make it real and truthful, then let the audience decide what is funny.

 

OBZ: Sie haben jetzt die Möglichkeit Ihren Fans, Ihren Freunden, Ihrer Familie und allen anderen etwas mitzuteilen (Danke...). Was möchten sie sagen?

WILSON: I thank them everyday. I thank GOD for my life everyday. I thank GOD for my gifts everyday, and I thank GOD for every creative way I can express myself everyday, and everyone who is a part of it.

 

OBZ: Was können wir von Ihnen in Zukunft erwarten?

WILSON: As for the future, I live moment by moment, in joy and gratitude. Ever present as to what comes next.
